Online Weight Loss Consultations with an Australian Doctor

Wanting to do something about your weight and not knowing where to start is common, and it is a reasonable thing to take to a doctor. Scripted Clinic offers weight consultations by phone or video with AHPRA-registered Australian doctors, anywhere in Australia, without a referral and without a waiting room.

What is an online weight loss clinic?

An online weight loss clinic is a telehealth service where you discuss your weight with a doctor by phone or video instead of in person. At Scripted Clinic an AHPRA-registered Australian doctor reviews your health history, talks through your goals, and agrees a plan with you. No referral is needed.

The consultation is a conversation, not a form. Your doctor asks about your health history, any other conditions you live with, medications you already take, what you have tried before and what got in the way. Weight is rarely about willpower alone, and an assessment that ignores sleep, stress, thyroid function, medications and mental health is not a real assessment.

Your first appointment

What happens in your first consultation?

Your first appointment is a conversation, not a prescription. Together you will discuss options, and, if a plan is appropriate for you, your practitioner will explain what it involves and how follow-up works. There is no obligation to proceed.

It helps to have a list of anything you currently take, including over-the-counter supplements, in front of you when you join the call.

Suitability

Who is this consultation for?

It is for adults in Australia who want a clinical conversation about their weight
This consultation is not suitable for everyone
Please do not book if:

What does a weight plan actually involve?

That depends entirely on your assessment, and your doctor will explain their reasoning to you during the consultation. What we can say here is what good care looks like: it addresses nutrition, physical activity, sleep and the behavioural side together, it accounts for any other conditions you live with and any medications you already take, and it is reviewed over time rather than set once and forgotten. Online weight loss programs work best when they are built around one person’s circumstances rather than a template.

We will not tell you on a web page what your treatment will be. Anyone who does is either guessing or advertising, and in Australia advertising prescription medicines to the public is against the law for good reason. What we will do is give you a proper assessment and an honest explanation of your options.

Why weight is a clinical issue, not a willpower issue?

Around two in three Australian adults — 67%, or roughly 13.2 million people — are living with overweight or obesity, and 33% are living with obesity. If this is you, you are in the majority, not the minority.

Source: Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, Overweight and obesity, last updated 24 June 2026, drawing on the ABS 2022–24 National Health Measures Survey.

Body weight is also regulated by a set of biological systems, including appetite hormones, metabolic rate, sleep and stress physiology, which tend to resist weight change. That is part of why sustained change is difficult, and why it is worth getting clinical input rather than assuming the problem is willpower.

Pricing

What it costs

No subscriptions, no lock-in, no upsells. Simple

Weight loss consultation
$49
no referral needed
The same price for your first appointment and for any follow-up. One fee, nothing to work out in advance.

The price above is for the consultation with your doctor. If your doctor recommends anything that carries a separate cost, they will tell you what it is and what it costs during the appointment, before you decide whether to go ahead. Nothing is charged without you agreeing to it first. Weight consultations are priced separately from our other services — see consultation pricing for those.

Telehealth weight loss

Why see a doctor about your weight online?

No referral and no waiting list

You book directly, usually within days.

Anywhere in Australia

Regional and remote patients get the same access as people in a capital city, which is the single biggest practical argument for telehealth here.

Privacy

For a lot of people weight is not a conversation they want to have in a shared waiting room.

Continuity

Follow-up consultations mean the plan is reviewed and adjusted rather than abandoned.

A real clinical assessment

Every consultation is with an AHPRA-registered Australian doctor, not a questionnaire with an automated result.

Our approach

Evidence-informed,
and alongside your GP

Every consultation is with an AHPRA-registered Australian doctor. You are assessed as an individual, and your weight loss doctor will tell you honestly whether this is the right path for you.

We are straightforward about what a consultation can and cannot do. There is no guaranteed outcome, no single answer that suits everyone, and no substitute for an individual assessment. If your doctor thinks the right step is something we do not offer, or that you are better served by your regular GP or a specialist, they will tell you. We would rather give you an honest answer than a sale.

We also encourage you to keep your regular GP informed. Telehealth works best alongside your usual care, not instead of it.

Questions before, you book

No. You can book a weight consultation with Scripted Clinic directly, without a referral from your GP. You choose a time and speak with an AHPRA-registered Australian doctor by phone or video.

At Scripted Clinic a weight consultation is $49. The price is the same for your first appointment and for any follow-up, so there is nothing to work out in advance. That covers your health history review, an individual assessment with an AHPRA-registered doctor, and an agreed plan.

Either. You choose which you prefer when you book. Both are with an AHPRA-registered Australian doctor and both cover the same assessment.

Yes. Consultations are available anywhere in Australia. You need a phone or an internet connection, nothing else. This is the main practical advantage of telehealth for patients outside the capital cities.

In most cases, yes, and we encourage it. It is complementary to your usual medical care, not a replacement. Always tell your practitioner about any medications or supplements you take so they can advise safely.

Your health history, any conditions you live with, medications you currently take, what you have tried before, and your goals. They will also ask about sleep, stress and activity, because these affect body weight and are often where the practical gains are.

That is a clinical decision your doctor makes with you, based on your individual assessment. Some people are, some are not. Australian law does not permit us to advertise prescription medicines or to promise any particular treatment.

No. A weight-focused consultation can be harmful if you have a current or past eating disorder. Please speak with your GP instead, or contact the Butterfly Foundation on 1800 33 4673 for specialist support.

No. This consultation is not suitable during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, or if you are trying to conceive. Speak with your GP or midwife about weight and nutrition during this period.

We encourage you to keep your GP informed and your doctor can discuss the best way to do that during your consultation. Telehealth works best alongside your usual care rather than instead of it.

Usually within a few days. You complete a short online health questionnaire first, then choose an available time that suits you.
